About the Project
The initial installation of the piece had incandescent bulbs lighting the cables that held the two aluminum circles together (Timelapse Video of Crockett Circle Installation). This lighting lasted a few years until they decided to upgrade. West 7th stated in a press release prior to the LED installation, “There will be 2,760 individually controllable LED nodes with 8,280 DMX channels and 17 DMX universes with the capability of displaying an infinite number of colors. The lights will be programmed in varying color-changing effects such as twinkle, color burst, slow color morph, sweeping effects, and solid colors such as red, white and blue for patriotic…” (read more) The show of effects is a total of 4.5 hours long and loops between static effects and what we call the “WOW” motion effects.
