Springhill Suites Exterior / Interior LED Lighting for New Development

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The hotel development group, Worth Hotels, brought WLS in to bid the lighting and controls package of Springhill Suites in Cedar Park, Texas. They initially asked us to bid the project as specified, making sure we were using the standard Marriott Hotels book specifications. The Marriott hotel corporate specs was a mixture of fluorescent and LED lighting. Once the quote for materials came in at over $300,000, Worth Hotels wasn’t thrilled. We asked if they’d like to see a value engineered lighting and controls package instead. WLS came back to Worth Hotels with a 100% LED lighting package for $165,000. Not only did the new package save over $135,000, it also met or exceeded the quality of light of the “as-specified” fixtures in all aspects.

Our proposed alternate package was submitted to the Marriott corporate design team and was approved. The client was so happy about the savings, they chose to invest into their exterior aesthetic with landscape lighting and moonlighting highlighting the beautiful oak trees around the property.

TYPES OF LIGHTING & CONTROLS

WLS provided exterior parking lot, landscape, lobby/hallway, bar, guest bedroom/bathroom, all back of house (offices, gym, lobby, kitchen), and color-changing accent lighting.  The accent lighting provided is seen throughout the main entrance area within the ceiling cove of the lobby, the front desk, and bar shelves. WLS also provided the Lutron Graphic Eye System for complete lighting control of the color-changing lobby, front desk, bar, and conference room.

When designing the guest rooms, we designed a custom fixture for the guest bathroom/shower. The custom design was a 1 meter long by 1 inch wide Recessed Linear Fixture. This modern styled fixture not only gave the hotel a unique look, it also came in less expensive than a typical shower downlight.
